A friendly football match was held in Ashgabat in honor of World Football Day

On May 23, 2026, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Turkmenistan and compatriots at a stadium in Ashgabat in honor of World Football Day a friendly football match was held.

As a reminder, on May 7, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly, based on a proposal and sporting initiative by the President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, and the Mayor of Dushanbe, the esteemed Rustam Emomali, adopted a special resolution declaring May 25 as World Football Day.

This initiative once again officially emphasizes the global significance of football as a means of strengthening friendship, solidarity, and developing sporting cooperation between countries.
