Participation in the International Anti-Terrorism Conference in Kuwait

On November 4, in the city of Al-Kuwait of the State of Kuwait, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, participated and spoke at the High-Level International Conference “Strengthening International Counter – Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms – The Kuwaiti Phase of the Dushanbe Process”.

President Emomali Rahmon called this conference an effective factor in strengthening international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism and other security threats.

It was emphasized that today's conference will further expand the scope and impact of the Dushanbe Process on combating terrorism and its financing.

"This conference will certainly contribute to the coordination and strengthening of cooperation at the international level, especially between the countries and regions of Central Asia, the Group of Arab countries, Africa and the Association of South-East Asian Nations" - said our respected Head of State Emomali Rahmon.

It was said that Tajikistan, as the initiator of the "Dushanbe Process", reaffirms its commitment to cooperation with the United Nations and other international partners.

The President of Tajikistan drew the attention of the participants of the high-level international conference to the issues of spreading extremist ideas, inciting hatred and religious conflicts in the society and inviting young people to commit terrorist crimes as a real weapon of terrorist and extremist organizations.

It was considered necessary for officials and experts to pay attention to this issue and take effective measures to solve it.

The President of our country emphasized that in order to prevent extremism, especially among young people, it is necessary to take special measures.

The Head of our State called the role of retraining in the direction of new technologies to strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies and intelligence services through training and technical support very effective.

It was emphasized that the growth of terrorism, extremism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking and cybercrime, as before, threatens international security.

In this regard, it was considered necessary to fight against these threats as well as to boost the coordination of countries' measures to strengthen peace, stability and security.

The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized Tajikistan's support for the adoption of the Convention on Combating International Terrorism. It was considered necessary to complete the negotiation process in this regard as soon as possible.

Regarding the strengthening of the capacity to ensure the security of the state border, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan stated that "our country, in cooperation with its partners, contributes to the creation of mechanisms that help to prevent the smuggling of weapons, drugs and the financing of terrorism."

It was highlighted that our country is an active participant in the global dialogue on security within international and regional organizations and, based on its experience in combating global threats, is implementing the Strategy for Combating Terrorism and Extremism for 2021-2025.

The Head of our State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, stated that within the framework of the implementation of this strategy, the Government of Tajikistan, among other significant achievements, has also made progress in the area of improving the mechanism of prevention of extremism and radicalism and increasing the role of education and civil society.

The President called the promotion of lasting peace and stability and peaceful life in the world as one of the main goals of our state's foreign policy, reminded of his proposal made at the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations to adopt a special resolution on declaring the "Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations".

Concluding his speech, the Honorable Leader of our state Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the Kuwaiti Phase of the Conference of "Dushanbe Process on Combating Terrorism and its Financing" will contribute to more active joint efforts of countries and international organizations in the field of combating terrorism and extremism.
